G-W CDN / 02
A network with clear names.
Node naming and CDN architecture.
↳
The layout below illustrates naming. Nodes are not confirmed; this is neither a live server inventory nor monitoring.
01
Names you can read in logs.
[region][number].cdn.g-w.<tld>
nl1.cdn.g-w.<tld>
fr1.cdn.g-w.<tld>
cy1.cdn.g-w.<tld>The primary domain is being selected. Numbering starts at 1; location codes belong in a shared registry. A geography-free alternative is 1.cdn.g-w.<tld>.
02
Illustrative node registry
| Example hostname | Location | State |
|---|---|---|
nl1.cdn.g-w.<tld> | Netherlands | Example |
fr1.cdn.g-w.<tld> | France | Example |
cy1.cdn.g-w.<tld> | Cyprus | Example |
03
Service address ≠ server address
Keep the delivery hostname separate from individual node names. Servers can then change without changing content URLs. DNS routing, health checks and failover require explicit configuration.
↳
A *.cdn.g-w.<tld> certificate covers one level of node names, but not cdn.g-w.<tld> itself. Include the site in a SAN or use a separate certificate.
